Sainsbury's Ledbury:
Committee Meeting Set
A planning committee meeting is being held on Wednesday 22 February, starting at 10am at The Shire Hall, St Peter's Square, Hereford HR1 2H in which the Sainsbury’s application in Ledbury will be considered by Herefordshire Council.
A public consultation found that 73% of respondents are fully in favour of the store proposal, which would see Sainsbury’s build a foodstore and petrol station at the existing Galebreaker site at New Mills Industrial Estate.
Scheme Changes
Having closely consulted with the public last year, Sainsbury’s has been able to make a number of revisions and improvements to the plans as part of its application.
Some of these changes are as follows:
- Repositioned the store to screen the car park from nearby residents and make better use of the site levels
- Relocated the customer restaurant to the ground floor to provide greater privacy for nearby residents
- Removed the recycling facility to reduce noise from the site
- Improved landscaping proposals, including more trees in the car park
- Added pedestrian and cycle links to the north and south of the site, providing better links to the town centre
- Added a pedestrian access to the residential area to the north of the site and linking it to the existing bus stop on New Mills Way
