Sainsbury's Ledbury:
Council turns down application

Herefordshire Council’s planning committee turned down Sainsbury’s application to build a new foodstore on New Mills Industrial Estate in Ledbury, at a committee meeting held on Wednesday 22nd February at the Shire Hall in Hereford.

Sainsbury’s had planned to create over 220 new jobs for local residents, provide a much-needed petrol station and a greater food shopping offer in Ledbury.

Michael Adenmosun, Sainsbury’s Regional Development Executive, comments:

“Whilst we are very disappointed at the council’s decision, we are confident that a foodstore would still bring great benefits to the town, a view echoed by the many supporters in the town”.

“We will now consider our options and continue to work with Galebreaker to progress their planning application, to relocate to new purpose-built premises in Ledbury and will be providing an update on Sainsbury’s soon”.

If you have any questions about our plans, please call Thomas Issitt on Sainsbury’s freephone 0800 975 5299
